NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (UPI) — Pop star Lady Gaga has released a new music video for her song Til It Happens to You Thursday that shines a light on campus sexual assault.

The lyrics written by Diane Warren is for the documentary The Hunting Ground, a film exposé that focuses on rape crimes that take place on U.S. college campuses, their institutional cover-ups, and the devastating toll they take on students and their families.

The video directed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke shows college students being sexually assaulted and the emotional toll it takes on their lives.

“The following contains graphic content that may be emotionally upsetting but reflects the reality of what is happening daily on college campuses,” reads a title card before the video starts.

Gaga addressed the PSA video on Twitter hoping that the song will help rape victims know that they are not alone.

“We hope u feel our love&solidarity through the song & perhaps find some peace in knowing u r not alone through this film,” Gaga posted.
