Gary Thorne Uses ‘Master’s Voice’ for Empty Orioles Game

Catcher Caleb Joseph signed autographs for imaginary fans and he wasn’t the only one who had fun.

Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Gary Thorne imitated Jim Nantz’s “Master’s voice” as he announced the game to an empty Camden Yards.

The stadium was empty due to the protests in Baltimore. Thorne, adjusting to the abnormally quiet setting, lowered is voice, softened his intonation and slowed his speech to something usually heard on a green rather than a diamond.

“That green jacket is well within reach, Jim,” Thorne joked as Orioles Adam Jones made it to second base.
