Salt Lake Police seek suspect after woman foils attempted carjacking

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect after a woman foiled an attempted carjacking in Salt Lake City by throwing her fob but not her keys to the suspect then fleeing into her house.

A news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said the incident happened at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the area of 300 E. 800 South.

The woman was cleaning out her car, the news release said, when she heard a tapping on her window, and looked up to see a man with a silver handgun. The man opened the door, and told the victim to get out and give him the keys. The woman threw him her fob, but retained her key and fled to her house.

The male was unable to steal the car and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, between 20 and 30 years old, 6 feet tall with a slender build, with medium-long black hair, wearing a dark beanie and a black and red plaid winter coat.
