TOKYO, June 8 (UPI) — A Japanese bathing facility north of Tokyo has been shut down after visitors complained of orgies involving men and women.

The Fudonoyu onsen, which drew 30 to 50 people on weekends and charged less than two dollars for admission, also attracted strangers who would perform sexual acts in the water, The Japan Times reported on Monday.

A local residents association said a dozen men and women began filming their impromptu pornography about a year ago, The Asahi Shimbun reported.

The complaints were mailed in, according to Koji Aida, a spokesman for the Shiobara tourism association.

An unnamed Osaka resident sent the association a pornographic DVD that showed sex acts being performed at Fudonoyu. The video came with a note indicating the DVDs were being sold at video stores in Japan.

Shigeki Tashiro, head of the Fukuwata neighborhood association, said that he felt “more sad than angered.”

“Changing times, I guess,” he told The Japan Times.

The onsen has been in operation since the Meiji Era and was closed indefinitely last Monday.

None of the offenders have been arrested, and the budget onsen stayed in operation because it cut costs by leaving the facilities unsupervised.

Complaints began trickling into Fudonoyu as early as several years ago, when visitors complained “Peeping Toms” would jump out of cars to enter the facilities when women arrived at the resort.

A mixed bath facility nearby responded to the complaints and moved the baths indoors so unwelcome guests are not free to enter.

Many of the offenders recruited more people to attend the orgy by posting invitations online.
