Japanese 6-year-old becomes world’s youngest club DJ

May 22 (UPI) — A musically talented 6-year-old boy from Japan became the world’s youngest club DJ.

Itsuki Morita claimed the Guinness World Record for “Youngest club DJ” after performing a set at L restaurant and bar in Osaka.

“I was really happy that I could DJ. Everyone says it’s great,” Itsuki said after achieving the record.

He set the new record by performing in front of a crowd of adults and other children for more than an hour at just 6 years and 114 days old.

“He didn’t give up thinking he could become a world record holder,” his mother said.

Itsuki used professional Pioneer XDJ AERO decks to play a series of tracks and had the opportunity to fire a T-shirt cannon into the crowd.

The young DJ, who also learned to play drums from one of his mother’s friends, enjoys playing a mixture of disco and rock music when he DJs

Itsuki said Swedish DJ Avicii is one of his favorites and that watching others inspired him to try it out himself.

“I saw people DJing and thought it looks fun,” he said.
