NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) — The Girl Scouts announced they’ll debut two new kinds of cookies, both based on the marshmallow-filled “S’mores.”
One is a graham-cracker cookie covered with icing and chocolate coating: The other is a graham-cracker sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallow filling. The cookies will be the first new additions to the Girl Scout Cookie lineup since 2015.
The new cookies commemorate the centennial of Girl Scout cookie sales as a fund-raising program.
“S’mores” — toasted marshmallows and Hershey bar segments sandwiched between two graham crackers — was popularized in Girl Scout publications as early as the 1920s, and became a favorite campfire treat nationwide.
It is regarded by the Girl Scouts organization, which has 2.7 million members in the United States, as a component of its involvement in outdoor activities.
