KAYSVILLE, Utah, Nov. 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) –A principal and a teacher from a Davis School District elementary school have been placed on administrative leave after a student wearing a controversial costume was allowed to march in a school Halloween parade.
The incident, which drew numerous negative comments after a photo of the parade was posted on Facebook, happened at Creekside Elementary on Thursday, when a student came to school wearing a brown shirt, a tie, khaki pants, and a red armband with a swastika on it. He also appeared to have a small mustache to complete the Hitler costume.
The school district released a statement Friday, which said:
“The Davis School District apologizes for what took place yesterday. It does not tolerate speech, images or conduct that portray or promote hate in any form.
“The district is taking the matter very seriously and is investigating every aspect of the situation.
“The principal and teacher have been placed on administrative leave.”
