KANE COUNTY, Utah, July 20, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews are fighting a new wildfire in Kane County Monday afternoon.

Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District posted on Facebook that its crews have been joined by the Division of Forestry and the Bureau of Land Management in fighting the Strawberry Fire just east of Mammoth Creek Road. The fire is just north of State Route 14 and northeast of Duck Creek Village, the post said.

Approximately 70 acres are burning, and evacuations are underway.

Residents are being asked to stay out of the area.

Utah Fire Info tweeted Monday night: “Firefighters are making good progress accessing the #StrawberryFire and are now working along the fire’s perimeter. Large air tankers and helicopters are being effective in supporting ground crews.”
