WAYNE COUNTY, Utah, March 7, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The family of two Wayne County murder victims has released a statement after the deaths of Linda Dewey, 65, and her niece, Natalie Graves, 34, found Wednesday near a hiking trail.

A third victim, Margaret Oldroyd, 86, was found later, fatally shot, at a nearby residence. Oldroyd is not a relative of Dewey or Graves.

Follow a multi-hour, multi-state manhunt, 22-year-old Ivan W. Miller was taken into custody in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Read more about the story at this link.

The Dewey/Graves family statement, shared by the Wayne & Garfield Insider, appears below:

“Our family is dealing with the shock of the devastating loss of two members of our family who were bonding over the beauty of a hike in one of their favorite places on earth–cherished by them and the community, considered to be a safe sanctuary. They were murdered. We cannot comprehend why this happened.

“We ask the media to give us privacy during a time when we need to be with each other and need time and space to process what has happened.

“Linda, age 65, was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and had many extended family members and friends all over the world. She was loved deeply and loved her family deeply. She was the heart of our family.

“Natalie, age 34, was a wife, daughter and sister, adored by her many friends and extended family members. She was joy, sunshine and beauty embodied.

“We need time to mourn, love each other and be with our family and friends. We are at a loss for words that can describe what we are feeling and cannot publicly express our sadness and devastation at this time.

“We ask that media and community members not approach our home but instead direct their attention to Cockscomb Trailhead to memorialize and honor Linda, Natalie and that place. Photographs of Linda and Natalie will be placed at the Cockscomb trailhead later today. We invite friends and family to memorialize them and place offerings as needed.

“Please respect our need for privacy. Thank you.”
