DENVER, COLORADO – November 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Salt Lake City fliers using Frontier Airlines this season can add checked and carry on baggage fee hikes to the list of holiday travel hassles.

Frontier Airlines, a Denver based carrier, is hiking checked and carry on baggage fees by $5 to $10 for flights scheduled from Thanksgiving week through early January 2016. The so-called “temporary increases” take effect on November 19, 2015 and run until January 5, 2016 according to Frontier’s website. If fliers read on, they’ll discover the increased fees are also in effect for the period from February 11 to April 4 and June 9 to August 16 of 2016.

The carry on bag prices will increase by $5 at booking and up to 24 hours before departure. Fliers will pay $10 extra at Web check-in, and $5 more at the airport kiosk or ticket counter. First checked bag fees will increase by $5 at FlyFrontier.com, at booking, and up to 24 hours before departure. At the call center, web check-in and airport ticket counter or self-service kiosk, they’ll go up by $10. Second checked baggage prices will all go up by $10.

At the same time Frontier is hiking baggage fees, it has been trying to lure in frequent fliers with a bonus promotion. The airlines is offering double frequent flier miles for all new bookings made now through December 31. Frontier’s promotion said, “The double miles are a way for us to thank customers for their loyalty and to entire new customers to try us.”
