MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 29 (UPI) — Google on Tuesday unveiled a new lineup that included its latest smartphones, a new version of Chromecast and Pixel tablet.
The company showed off its new Nexus 6P and Nexus 5 phones. The 6P is slimmed to about the same size as Apple’s iPhone 6 and sports an all-metal case, a 12.3-megapixel camera and an improved display.
The phones also feature the Nexus Imprint — a biosecurity feature that allows users to access the phone and authorize purchases via the Play Store and Android Pay.
Google began taking pre-orders for the phone Tuesday and will begin shipping them next month.
The company’s second-generation Chromecast sports a new disc-like shape and is available in multiple colors. Google also introduced Chromecast Audio and an improved Chromecast app for Android.
Finally, the Pixel C tablet sports an upgraded processor, 3 GB of memory and Android’s new Marshmallow operating platform — as well as an optional plug-in keyboard.
Google said prices for the Pixel C will start at $499 and is expected to begin shipping this holiday season.
