Weekend Box Office: “War Room” Beats Out “Compton” as #1 Movie

September 7, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Sony’s faith-based film “War Room” took in $9.3 million it’s second weekend out to dethrone “Straight Outta Compton” as the number one film in the U.S.

“Straight Outta Compton” drops to second place after four weeks in the top slot. The film took in $8.8 million over the weekend bringing it’s total take to $147.7 million dollars domestically.

Box Office Mojo is reporting newcomer “A Walk in the Woodsbrought in $8.4 million dollars which landed the Robert Redford / Nick Nolte movie in third place its first weekend out.

Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” dropped to fourth place. The spy thriller earned $7.1 million over the weekend. It’s total, after six weeks in release, is $180.3 million in the USA.

The newly released “Transporter Refueled” opened in the fifth slot with a lower-than-expected $7.2 million.
