‘Avengers,’ ‘Shadowhunters’ win big at People’s Choice Awards

Nov. 12 (UPI) — Avengers: Infinity War was voted Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie at the People’s Choice Awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Actress Scarlett Johansson, who plays Natasha/Black Widow in the film, was named Favorite Female Movie Star.

Danai Gurira, who played Okoye in Avengers and its fellow Marvel blockbuster Black Panther, was deemed Favorite Action Movie Star, while Chadwick Boseman who appeared as T’Challa/Black Panther in the two films, scored the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Male Movie Star.

The Spy Who Dumped Me won for Favorite Comedy Movie.

Shadowhunters was voted Favorite TV Show, and castmates Katherine McNamara and Harry Shum Jr. earned the accolades for Favorite Female and Male TV Star respectively.

Kevin Hart won the statuette for Comedy Act of the year.

Nicki Minaj opened the ceremony in Los Angeles with a musical performance, then took home the awards for Favorite Female Music Artist and Favorite Album for Queen.

BTS was voted Favorite Music Group, Taylor Swift was honored with the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Concert Tour and Blake Shelton was elected Favorite Country Music Artist.

Shelton’s The Voice was deemed Favorite Competition Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was named Favorite Nighttime Talk Show.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians won for Favorite Reality Show and Khloe Kardashian was named Favorite Reality TV Star.

Rita Ora and John Legend also sang during the gala where Victoria Beckham was presented with the People’s Fashion Icon Award and Melissa McCarthy received the People’s Icon Award. The ceremony was broadcast on E!
