BURBANK, Calif., March 15 (UPI) — Gal Gadot has detailed her secret audition for the role of Wonder Woman in Warner Bros. upcoming superhero epic, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

“I did an audition, I didn’t know what I was auditioning for,” the Israeli actress explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday.

“And then they call to say that they want to camera test me with Ben [Affleck]. I said ‘Great, what am I testing for?'” she said of her Dawn of Justice co-star who portrays Batman in the film.

Finally director Zack Snyder let Gadot in on what she was trying out for. “Same night, Zack calls me, saying, ‘Well, I’m not sure if you have it in Israel but did you ever hear of Wonder Woman?’ Then I went dead for five seconds, came back to life, and tried to pull off my coolest voice, saying ‘Wonder Woman? Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard of her,” she said.

After a great audition and two weeks of waiting, Gadot finally got the call from her agent that she had won the role of the iconic super heroine.

Following Dawn of Justice, Gadot is also set to appear as Wonder Woman in her own upcoming solo film directed by Patty Jenkins and again alongside the other heroes in the DC comics cinematic universe in Snyder’s Justice League: Part One.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters March 25.
