LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1 (UPI) — Kerry Washington has a new television project in the works.

News outlets reported the 39-year-old actress will executive produce the new ABC series “Patrol,” a drama about female police officers in Los Angeles.

“Patrol” will center on four L.A.P.D. officers who attended the same police academy five years ago, according to Variety. The women reunite after “a high-stakes, traumatic secret returns to haunt them.”

The series is the first project to emerge from Washington’s development deal with ABC Studios. The actress had signed a two-year exclusive deal in April on behalf of her production company, Simpson Street.

“It’s an honor to be at a point in my career when I can help generate projects that are exciting, necessary and truly reflect the world around us,” she said at the time. “I’m grateful to be on this journey with ABC.”

“Kerry Washington is not only a great actress but a smart, creative producer, and we’re thrilled to have her new production company,” ABC Studios executive vice president Patrick Moran added.

Washington stars as Olivia Pope on the ABC series “Scandal.” The political drama co-stars Tony Goldwyn, Scott Foley and Jeff Perry, and will return for a sixth season in January 2017.
