LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) — The first trailer for the Leonard Nimoy documentary “For the Love of Spock” has been released featuring interviews from the deceased actor’s closest friends and family.
Directed by his son Adam Nimoy, the trailer features clips of interviews Adam conducted with his father’s “Star Trek” co-stars and those who knew him best.
“I loved Leonard,” William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk on the long-running sci-fi series alongside Leonard for three decades, says to Adam. “I never had a friend like I had with your dad.”
The footage ends with all of the various interview clips combining to form one image in space of the actor as the iconic Spock.
Nimoy died at the age of 83 in February of 2015 after suffering from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The film, set to be narrated by current Spock actor Zachary Quinto, was made possible by a Kickstarter campaign that was able to receive $662,000 in funding.
“For the Love of Spock” debuts April 16 at the Tribeca film festival before becoming available to stream later this year.
