Avalanche in Huntington Canyon to close road until next week

EMERY COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 11, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Emery County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday State Route 31 in Huntington Canyon will remain closed until the first part of next week due to a recent avalanche.

The prepared statement on Facebook said several more avalanches have occurred in Huntington Canyon blocking the road in multiple areas.

In addition to the snow, large trees have also come down, the statement says. The area impacted is from Electric Lake to mile post 30.
