TREMONTON, Utah, May 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Box Elder County officials Friday announced a bridge nearing collapse that will likely take all summer to fix.

“Box Elder County has been informed of a bridge failure over a portion of the Bear River Canal in Tremonton, located on 12000 North just east of Highway 13,” the county said online around noon.

“As a result, 12000 North will be closed until necessary repairs can be completed. Given that the water season has just begun, repairs are expected to extend until the end of the summer.”

Officials asked motorists to avoid the area and use an alternative route, such as 11600 North or Tremonton Main Street (State Road 102), for eastbound travel from 5200 West (Highway 13).

“We will provide updates as more information becomes available or if the estimated repair timeline changes. Thank you for your understanding and patience.”

The road is a fairly busy artery less than a mile from Main Streets for both Garland and Tremonton as well as Bear River High School.
