SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 17, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews battled an attic fire in Salt Lake City on Thursday morning.

The fire broke out in the area of 218 E. Downington Ave. at approximately 9:55 a.m., Salt Lake City Fire Department Captain Anthony Burton told Gephardt Daily.

Crews accessed the attic to suppress the fire and had it knocked down in about 20 minutes, Burton said.

“We got a good handle on it early,” he added. “When we first got here, we had light smoke in the attic space, so it was just taking some time to work out methodically where that fire was.”

There were no injuries as a result of the blaze, though two individuals were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
