Driver extricated after single-car rollover on I-80

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after being extricated from her car after it rolled on Interstate 80 early Sunday morning.

A news release from Utah Highway Patrol said the incident occurred just after 3:50 a.m. when the woman was driving her 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on I-80 at Foothill Drive, mile marker 127.5.

“The driver drifted to the right and left the roadway,” the news release said. “The vehicle hit a shallow concrete drainage ditch and rolled onto the driver’s side.”

Medical personnel extricated the driver, who was wearing her seat belt, and she was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is unknown why the driver left the roadway.

The woman was not identified by officials.
