Fire causes $30k in damage to Ogden home

OGDEN, Utah, Feb. 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews from Ogden and South Ogden fire departments responded to a structure fire at 1936 Van Buren Ave. on Tuesday night.

The flashing lights of several fire trucks lit up the south end of the 1900 block of Van Buren, while a only few neighbors braved the cold to see what was going on.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:56 p.m. and had the blaze under control by 6:13 p.m. It was declared fully extinguished at 6:31 p.m., according to information from Ogden Fire Department on Twitter.

No firefighters were injured, but one civilian was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting two residents of the home who have been displaced by the fire.

Damage is estimated at $30,000 dollars, OFD said. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is being investigated by the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Seventeen firefighters from Ogden City and South Ogden City responded to the scene with three ladder trucks, an engine, an ambulance, a paramedic rescue, and a battalion chief.
