Officials ID 27-year-old Logan man suspected drowned in Bear Lake

ST. CHARLES, Idaho, July 19, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a man who is suspected to have drowned in Bear Lake.

The body of Martin T. Garcia, 27, of Logan, was located and recovered Sunday afternoon, according to Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office officials.

Garcia fell off his inner tube in the North Beach area at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

Kayakers nearby saw him struggling and paddled towards him to help, but he disappeared into the water and they could not locate him, officials said.

Initial search efforts by the Sheriff’s Office and other agencies were called off Saturday night and resumed early Sunday morning.

Garcia’s body was located early Sunday afternoon.
