HERRIMAN, Utah, June 6, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Four fire departments responded to a residential fire in Herriman on Friday, saving the home and rescuing a cat after flames engulfed a garage and a nearby RV.
“Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire from the garage and an RV parked next to the garage,” the Unified Fire Authority said. “Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading further into the home.”
The garage and RV sustained significant damage and were considered total losses. However, firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading through the residence, limiting damage inside the home to minor smoke damage, the agency said.
Herriman City Police Department officers helped the resident to safety before firefighters arrived. During the incident, firefighters rescued a cat from the home and reunited it with its owner.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Unified Fire Authority thanked Bluffdale City Fire Department, South Jordan City Fire Department and West Jordan Fire Department for assisting at the scene.
“We are grateful for the coordinated efforts of responding personnel and for the quick actions taken by the occupant,” the agency said. “This incident serves as an important reminder to ensure smoke alarms are working properly and to have an evacuation plan in place for both family members and pets.”
