OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police responded to a call reporting an injured animal Sunday afternoon and found that a family’s dog had been shot and killed.

Ogden Police Lt. Bret Connors said the call came in at 3:18 p.m., after a husky named Maia was found dead near Wild Rose Way, off Mountain Road.

A neighbor of Maia’s owner found the dog, and the owner then went and retrieved the body.

Connors said police did not receive any calls about shots fired in the area, but he said “the dog’s wound was consistent with a gunshot.”

Police had no suspect and no leads Sunday night, Connors said. They would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything that might relate to this case.

Anyone who has any information is asked to call Ogden PD at 801-395-8221 or email [email protected].
