SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Salt Lake City Tasered a man on Monday after they say he was acting erratically, then ran from them holding a knife.

The incident occurred in the area of 550 W. 600 South just before 8:50 a.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

A man was seen straddling the fence on the I-80 off-ramp near 600 South where it joins the I-15 600 South off-ramp, the news release said.

“When officers arrived the male was no longer on the fence, but standing on the off-ramp acting erratically and holding a folded pocket knife,” the news release said. “The male would not communicate with officers. Officers blocked traffic to prevent a possible traffic incident.”

The man began to run and as he did so he opened a folding knife.

Officers used a Taser to subdue the man. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
