Salt Lake police searching for suspect who tried to open register at McDonald’s

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 7, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake police are searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to open the register at McDonald’s during an armed robbery Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at the McDonald’s at 1655 W. 700 North at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“A male suspect knocked on the drive through window of McDonald’s,” the news release said. “When the window opened the suspect displayed a weapon at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk stepped back so the suspect reached in and attempted to open the register.”

The manager walked around the corner next to the clerk, scaring the suspect who fled southbound without money.

The suspect was wearing a red hoodie, a black bandana over his face and gloves.
