OREM, Utah, Oct. 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was taken to an area hospital after a crash involving a school bus and a car Wednesday morning.

Orem Police tweeted at 8 a.m. the crash occurred in the area of 1200 N. State St.

Officials said the Alpine School District school bus was heading south on State Street and the car was headed north on the same road.

The bus attempted to turn left at 1200 North and turned in front of the car, officials said. The car crashed into the rear of the bus.

Both vehicles had green lights, but the bus was in the left turn lane and had a green yield light, not a green arrow, officials said.

The five teenagers and the driver on the bus were not injured.

The driver of the car was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. She was also issued a citation for not having car insurance. The driver of the bus was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way.

Another bus transported the students to school.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area until around 9 a.m. but the scene has now been cleared and traffic is flowing normally.
