ST. GEORGE, Utah, April 6, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — An on-duty St. George Police officer left the roadway and damaged a city-owned property at about 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The officer, “while on duty, failed to maintain his lane of travel, leaving the roadway,” a St. George Police statement says. “This occurred in the area of 2200 East in St. George. There was minor damage to city-owned property, and no injuries were reported.”

The statement does not say whether the property damaged was the police vehicle or something else.

The Washington County Sheriff‘s Office is investigated, and issued the officer a citation, the statement says.

“In accordance with St. George Police Department policy, the department does not investigate incidents involving its own employees. Consistent with City of St. George policy, the employee was referred for drug and alcohol testing.”
