SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer in Salt Lake City Friday afternoon.
Officers booked Joshua Funk, 28, into jail for assault on a police officer, possession of a weapon by a restricted person, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.
The incident occurred in the area of 724 E. 2100 South just after 5 p.m., the news release said.
“Officers responded on reports of a suspicious person with a knife,” the news release said. “Upon arrival, they located and detained a man. While attempting to take the male into custody, the suspect struck an officer with his head, a short struggle ensued and the suspect was taken into custody.”
The officer was not injured, officials said.
