SPANISH FORK, Utah, Sept. 21, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday night after being stabbed during Maple Mountain High School’s homecoming dance.
According to the Spanish Fork Police Department, officers were dispatched to the school around 9:21 p.m. on a report of a stabbing in the east parking lot. Responding officers and Spanish Fork Fire & EMS crews found the teenager with a stab wound to his leg.
The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the SFPD said.
Investigators said the suspect, a 16-year-old boy, fled the scene but was located shortly after and taken into custody. He is being held at Slate Canyon Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated assault.
The stabbing remains under investigation.
