STANSBURY PARK, Utah, June 22, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A 66-year-old man is dead, his wife is injured and a 14-year-old boy who had been in the couple’s residence is in custody after what the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office is calling a homicide.
At 10:45 a.m. Saturday, dispatch was called by a woman who said a 14-year-old male family member was at her residence in the area of Malachite Way and Brigham Road in Stansbury Park, and he was making statements about self-harm.
“Deputies were dispatched to the residence,” a Tooele County Sheriff news release says. “Minutes later, dispatch received a 911 call from the female, who reported she had been injured and her husband remained inside the residence with the juvenile, who was armed with a knife.”
When deputies arrived, they found the injured female outside the residence, being assisted by neighbors.
“Deputies immediately entered the home and located a 66-year-old male deceased inside. Deputies then searched the residence and surrounding area and determined the juvenile had fled the residence. He was located approximately two blocks west of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.”
The juvenile was evaluated by medical personnel and later booked into a juvenile detention center.
“The injured female was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries and released.
“Detectives with the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office responded and are investigating the incident as a homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.”
Because the suspect is a juvenile, no identifying information will be released.
“We ask the public to respect the privacy of those involved during this difficult time.”
