TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, June 21, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Tooele County’s Hasting Fire, burning near Hastings Pass, has undergone aerial mapping, and is closely estimated at 5,993 acres, a Utah Fire Info update says.
The update was issued early Sunday afternoon.
“Overnight winds contributed to continued extreme fire behavior which resulted in fire growth…. Today’s winds are calmer, allowing crews to work the perimeter in accessible areas.
“Three engines, two water tenders and a helicopter are currently on scene, with two more engines arriving later today. A Utah Task force will rotate in with five engines and a water tender to allow current crews a chance to recharge and return fresh.
“No structures are threatened at this time.”
Due to “rapidly changing conditions, please don’t recreate north of Rydalch Pass until further notice,” the update says.
An update Saturday asked anyone recreating near Hastings Pass trail to leave the area “due to erratic fire behavior. Please stay away from this area.”
