SOUTH SALT LAKE, UTAH – August 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Two people were killed in a car-TRAX train collision Friday evening near 500 East 2100 South.

According to South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Gary Keller, Jessalyn L. Heaton, 36, of Salt Lake and Raymond Benally, 33,  also of Salt Lake, suffered fatal injuries after being hit by an oncoming TRAX train around 7 p.m.

“The investigation is still underway,” Keller said.  “We are not sure what prompted the driver to enter into the path of the TRAX line. We will be pulling video from the TRAX train to hopefully determine why this happened.”

This is a developing story.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
