SYRACUSE, Utah, May 31, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- Syracuse police have announced that a black pickup truck associated with the man they say is a suspect in an assault has been located, but the man, Daniel Herson Vazquez, remains at large.

Vazquez, 34, is wanted in connection with the assault and critical injury of a 26-year-old woman.

Police were called to the scene, near 2700 West and 3300 South, at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and found the victim, who "had sustained significant injuries," an earlier Syracuse PD statement says.

"She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. At this time, the victim’s name is not being released, and there is no further update on her condition."

Vazquez, whose last known address was in Syracuse, was identified by police as the suspect.

"Vazquez currently has an active warrant for a prior aggravated assault," the initial release says.

"While investigators do not believe there is any immediate danger to the public, we advise against approaching him."

The most recent statement, released with the photo at the top of this article, says the investigation is "continuing with the support of local, state, and federal agencies."

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at 801-825-4400 and reference case number Y25-06695.
