ST. GEORGE, Utah, Sept. 2, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Tech University police have released the name of the student who died Sunday after a fall from a fifth floor student housing balcony.
The man was Jordan Konanui-Kong.
Police were dispatched at 5:42 p.m.
“Upon arrival on the scene, UTPD determined that Jordon Konanui-Kong, a 22-year-old Utah Tech freshman, had fallen from the balcony of his fifth-floor room in Campus View Suites II.
“‘Don,’ as he goes by, was transported to St. George Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. No additional information is available at this time, as an investigation, which was conducted as part of standard operating procedure, is still ongoing.”
Jyl Hall, director of public relations for Utah Tech, sent a statement to Gephardt Daily.
“Utah Tech University is devastated by the loss of a member of our Utah Tech family,” the UTU statement said. “His presence will be deeply missed on campus.
“Mental health professionals from UT’s Booth Wellness Center as well as resources on the SafeUT app and the 988 lifeline are available for students, faculty and staff needing assistance processing this tragedy.
“We are thinking of the family and friends and will continue to support one another as we grieve together during this difficult time.”
