GRAND COUNTY, Utah, July 16, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A new wildfire was discovered in Grand County at about 2 p.m. Thursday.
The Arroyo Fire is in a remote area of the Book Cliffs on San Arroyo Ridge above Taylor Canyon on Bureau of Land Management Lands.
“The fire is currently estimated at 10-15 acres and is burning in pinyon-juniper and brush,” a 3:30 p.m. Utah Fire Info announcement says.
“The fire is threatening oil and gas infrastructure in the area. Multiple air and ground resources are responding. Smoke may be visible from Grand Junction and I-70. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
