BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah July 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 20,000 acre wildfire forced the closure State Route 30 in Box Elder County Sunday morning.

An update from the Utah Fire Info website said the China Jim Fire is located approximately 13 miles southwest of Grouse Creek.

“Resources are on scene of this full suppression fire,” the update said. “The fire will continue to rapidly move to the east and southeast threatening two ranches located along the Grouse Creek Valley Road.”

The next step for the firefighters is to provide for structure protection and public safety, establish an anchor point and begin flanking the fire with direct line, and look for opportunities to place indirect lines and burnout to contain the fire.

It’s estimated the fire will be contained by Tuesday night.
