The Etiquette Of Flying High

Rude passengers are an in-flight calamity that we are almost certain to encounter every time, or every other time that we climb aboard a plane.

One of the basic common courtesies most people forget is being mindful of their own behavior. Everybody is so concerned with what everyone else is doing and they are not mindful of their own behavior and how it affects other people.

To make your next flight more pleasant for you and everyone on board here are some flying tips:

Overhead Luggage

Airline BaggageAfter boarding the plane, you are going to start storing your luggage in the compartment nearest to your seat. Just take some time and be aware of others in the aisle behind you and beside you. Also try avoid blocking fellow passengers while stowing luggage.

Keep in mind that you are responsible for hoisting your bag into the overhead bin not flight attendants. Most airlines prohibit flight attendants from handling passengers’ luggage. Pack light enough that you can handle it yourself.

Middle seat? Ugh, the worst right? The passenger in the window seat can rest their head on the window and the person in the aisle seat can lean into the aisle for more room. But the middle seat traveler is stuck with the least amount of space.

The next time that you fly look at where you are sitting and be mindful of how much arm space you are entitled to and give your armrest to the person in the middle.

Airline ChildrenChildren

Most parents are really good with their kids but there are some nightmare situations such as: children pulling passengers’ hair, running down the aisles, kicking and screaming, The best defense against any major disruptive behavior?

Pack many activities, you can bring toys, games, video games different things to entertain children. Airlines do not provide toys or books for children as some did in the past.

Make sure to keep an eye on your child’s belongings to make sure they do not spill over into the aisle or on the person next to you. As for other parents’ children if one of them is bothering you calmly consult a flight attendant before trying to handle the situation yourself.

Reclining The Seats

Airline RecliningThis is one increasingly tricky problem. There is now a now product that prevents a seat from reclining.

So is it okay to use this seat-jamming product? On one hand, the seats in airplanes were engineered to recline. On the other, legroom has definitely decreased.

Instead of investing in a Knee Defender, consider looking before you recline. All you have to do is simply ask the person if he or she minds if you recline.

The close quarters of commercial flights, pushes the buttons of people and reclining seats can lead to altercations and people can even become physical.

Exiting The Plane

Airline ExitingEven if you have heard the seatbelt and emergency exit spiel thousands of times pay attention to the announcements to see if any time-crunched passengers with connections need to exit first.

Treat exiting a plane like waiting in line, and only cut in front of people if their turn comes and they are clearly not ready to exit.

When trying to decide if a certain behavior is acceptable on a plane, ask yourself this simple question:

Would I be okay with everyone else on the plane choosing to behave the same way?
