PHILADELPHIA — Despite heavy speculation that Eagles Coach Chip Kelly would he would use his control to trade his way to draft Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Kelly said Wednesday that he is opposed to giving up the resources needed to trade at the top of the draft.

It is known that Kelly sees Marcus is the best quarterback in the draft, but to after after the top draft pick would require too many other holes the Eagles would have to take care of.

The Eagles sent quarterback Nick Foles and draft picks, including a second-round pick in 2016, to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford, the first overall pick in the 2010 draft. A move that created the speculation that a deal for Mariota was coming, but Kelly has not changed his plan for Bradford to be the Eagles’ quarterback.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly, who coached Marcus Mariota at Oregon, told ESPN that “Philadelphia won’t mortgage its future in a potential trade for the quarterback.”
Kelly also gave credit to Howie Roseman, The former general manager for the Eagles, for his acuteness in managing the salary cap and negotiating contracts. He also said there is a benefit to the head coach having final say on who comes to the franchise.

So for all you Oregon fans who were hoping for a Kelly and Mariota reunion, you may have to wait, for a while.
