BELL’S CANYON, Utah, July 21, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Sheriff’s officials have released the name of a man caught and killed in a rock slide Saturday in Bell’s Canyon.

The victim was David Mull, 49, of Salt Lake City. The Sheriff’s statement says Mull “was the sole victim of the incident.”

The SLCO Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team responded to the scene, in the area of Pfeifferhorn Peak, at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. They found a doctor who had been hiking in the area on the scene. The doctor was rendering aid to the fallen climber. Officials say the victim had fallen an estimated 700 feet.

“Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the Sheriff’s news release says.

“This response was a collaborative operation between the Salt Lake County Sheriff‘s Office, Division of Public Safety, Unified Fire Authority, Sandy City Fire Department, and Utah Division of Natural Resources.”
