KEARNS, Utah, March 7, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was rushed to the hospital after fire officials found in on the lawn of a burning residence in Kearns.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released but whose age was reported as 26, was found with what appeared to be soot on her face and in her mouth, according to Eric Holmes, spokesman for the Unified Fire Authority.

She was transported from the residence, 4046 W. 5540 South, to a nearby hospital, to be checked out for possible smoke inhalation and any other injuries.

“With speed at which she was transported, that would indicate enough concern for her to get there quickly,” Colmes told Gephardt Daily.

Multiple calls came in from neighbors at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Colmes said. Crews arrived at the scene and helped the woman, then fought the fire.

“It looks to be like a back bedroom of the residence,” Colmes said. “It looks like a standard room-and-contents house fire, which we can put out very quickly with well trained fire fighters.”

With the fire out, investigators were on scene to determine the cause of the fire, Colmes said.

Gephardt Daily will have more information as it becomes available.
