HOLLYWOOD – November 19, 2015 — (Gephardt Daily) — Bette Midler shot down any hope of a “Hocus Pocus” sequel in her Facebook live Q & A as the 69-year-old singer / actress discussed the potential sequel on Facebook.

Midler starred as ‘Winnie Sanderson’ in the original 1993 movie, which has an almost cult following.

“After all these years and all the fan demand, I do believe I can stand and firmly say an unequivocal no,” she wrote in response to a fan’s question about “Hocus Pocus 2.”

Midler had expressed interest in a sequel last year, and joked about the potential movie ahead of Halloween in October. But then shot it down in a now famous tweet:

The Tweet read:
“Breaking news!! SEQUEL DELAYED!!” she tweeted, tagging her costars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. “@Disney having trouble finding a virgin!”

Earning around $40 million dollars in it’s initial U.S. release, the Disney film garnered a wider audience as the film became available for home viewing. Presently, “Hocus Pocus” is always included in the top films to watch at Halloween time.

In the film, its been 3 centuries since the Sanderson sisters, played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker, were executed for practicing dark witchcraft. Returning to life thanks to a combination of a spell spoken before their demise and the accidental actions of Max, the new-kid-in-town, the sisters have but one night to secure their continuing existence

Midler has since starred in “The First Wives Club,” “The Stepford Wives” and “The Women,” and is filming “Freak Show” with Abigail Breslin and AnnaSophia Robb.
