LOS ANGELES, March 18 (UPI) — Actor Joe Santos, most known for his role as Lt. Dennis Becker on “The Rockford Files” has died at the age of 84 according to his son Perry Santos.
Speaking with TMZ, Perry explained that his father suffered a heart attack Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. After being placed on life support, Santas died Friday at a hospital in Santa Monica.
Santos notably won an Emmy in 1979 for his role as Decker, star James Garner‘s title character’s cop friend on “The Rockford Files” and remained with the hit drama series six seasons and across its multiple television movies.
Santos also starred in “Magnum P.I.,” “Miami Vice,” “Quantum Leap,” “MacGyver” and “The Sopranos.” He was most recently featured in the 2015 film “Chronic.”
Santos is survived by his two sons and daughter.
