WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, April 6, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating the discovery of a body Sunday evening in a West Valley City canal.
Sgt. Mackenzie Fowler of the West Valley City Police Department told Gephardt Daily that officers were dispatched at about 7:40 p.m. to the area of Lake Park Boulevard after a concerned citizen reported a person might be in the water.
“When officers and EMS arrived on the scene, that individual was pronounced deceased,” Fowler said.
According to Fowler, it was too early in the investigation to determine whether foul play was involved.
No other information, including the deceased person’s identity, was released.
Fowler said there are no outstanding suspects and no immediate threat to the public.
