LAYTON, Utah, May 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Transportation is warning motorists to plan ahead for a major closure of U.S. 89 in Davis County this weekend.

The Weber Basin Water Conservancy District will close northbound U.S. 89 at state Route 193 beginning at 8 p.m. Friday to install a new water pipeline. The highway is scheduled to reopen by 1 p.m. Monday.

Motorists should expect significant delays throughout the duration of the work, with waits of up to an hour on both U.S. 89 and Interstate 15 expected Saturday afternoon, UDOT officials said. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The planned construction is weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest information on traffic restrictions, visit the UDOT Traffic website or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android.

Motorists also can follow UDOT on social media — including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram — for updates.
