After 94 years in business, RadioShack filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy on February 5th, 2015. The very next day on February 6th, deals to close 1,784 stores began.
The 1,784 stores will all be closed as early as March 31st. However, there are 5,000 stores under the RadioShack brand, meaning that the company still has some hope for the next couple of years.
It was stated in RadioShack’s bankruptcy filing that the company is planning to sell anywhere from 1,500 to 2,400 stores to General Wireless. Sprint loved that idea and has made a deal with General Wireless to open mini-shops in some of the remaining RadioShacks.
Of the 1,784 stores, six of those are stores right here in Utah. You may want to see which stores are closing near you.
