WEST JORDAN, UTAH – APRIL 27, 2015 (Gehpardt Daily) West Jordan police are looking for a teenager who was involved in an incident at the McDonald’s at 3963 W. 9000 South in West Jordan on Wednesday April 22.

Police were called to the location with a report that a 16-year-old teenager, who was at the McDonald’s with an unknown little girl, had kicked a five-year-old boy down the playground’s spiral staircase after the boy tried to say goodbye to the little girl that was with him.

According to Angela Hess, the five-year-old’s mother, her husband Robert and her son were at the PlayPlace inside the McDonald’s where a witness told police that the teenager kicked the small child down the staircase. “My son was playing at the top of the stair case with this other little girl and when he attempted to say goodbye to her, the teen kicked my son down the stairs.”

Angela also said that her husband confronted the teenager immediately after the incident. “He stopped him and asked him why he did that and he told Robert that his son was annoying him and just wanted the child out of his way.” Robert then told the teenager to apologize to his son. The teen and the small child left before the police arrived and they are currently working to identify him.

“We are currently waiting on the surveillance footage to determine if the teenager intentionally kicked the boy down the stairs or if it was done accidentally before we can proceed, we expect the footage will help in determining that,” said Sgt. Dan Roberts of the West Jordan Police Department.

Angela’s son suffered a bruised spleen, his shoulders and his upper and lower back were also injured in the incident. “He can not play outside hard for at least a week which means no bikes, scooters, parks or playing sports to protect his spleen and he is having trouble with thinking someone is going to come and hurt him,” said Angela.

The teen has been described as a Caucasian , clean cut male, 6 ft tall and wearing a purple and black plaid shirt. He was with a small girl, with blonde hair, who they believe he was babysitting at the time.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or might have information on identifying the teen to please call 801-840-4000 and reference case # 15H005685.
