MCCORNICK, Utah, May 15, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 64-year-old man died in a farming accident Friday morning near Delta after getting caught in a machine used for cutting bales of hay.

Millard County Sheriff’s Office received a call just after 9 a.m. regarding a man who had been crushed in a machine in McCornick, an area between Holden and Delta.

Sheriff’s deputies and emergency crews responded, but when they arrived, they found Melquiadez Marquez, 64, of Hinckley, had already died from his injuries.

Workers told deputies Marquez had been operating a machine that cuts large bales of hay into smaller bales when a co-worker heard Marquez cry out. When the worker went to check on him, he found him in the machine.

Marquez was taken to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office in Salt Lake City for an autopsy.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
