‘Hot Rod’ Hundley dies at age 80 of Alzheimer’s

Salt Lake City, March 27, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Hot Rod Hundley has passed away.

NBA.com,  reports that Hot Rod, the former professional basketball player, television broadcaster and “Voice of the Utah Jazz,” died away at his home in Phoenix after a long bout with Alzheimer’s.

Broadcaster and friend, Bill Gephardt says, “The loss of Hot Rod diminishes us all.”

In his 80 years, Hundley’s life has always revolved around basketball as his love and talent showed mostly during his years at West Virginia University.

Hundley was the fourth player in NCAA history to score more than 2,000 points during his career. He averaged 24.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game for three seasons and finished his collegiate career with 2,180 points.
