UPDATE: Man, 8-Year-Old Boy In Salt Lake City Murder-Suicide Identified

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man and a child who died in a Salt Lake City murder-suicide Tuesday have been identified.

A tweet Wednesday morning from the Salt Lake City Police Department said the 8-year-old victim of homicide is Xavier Lucero-Waters. The deceased male adult was identified as Moses Waters, 46.

Salt Lake City police officers received a call of violence with a gun at about 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Sgt. Greg Wilking, Salt Lake City Police Department. They responded to an apartment at 561 N. Center St.

“Our officers arrived at the scene and found a deceased male, a female, and an 8-year-old with injuries,” Wilking said. A woman also found in the apartment was uninjured.

The boy was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive his injuries, Wilking said.

SLCPD said the weapon used was revealed to be an “improvised firearm.”
